Crime is rife in our society and the daily statistics are appalling. But some crimes are bizarre and leave you wondering what motivated the perpetrator.
Here's my list of some of the weirdest crimes committed between the periods of 2010 to 2012.
Bottles of Feces Used as Weapon in Prison Riot
In Dylan Garbino, four inmates were charged with starting a riot and arming themselves with bottles of feces! In November 2011 in Larimer county jail, inmates allegedly used shampoo bottles to squirt police deputies with. This resulted in the whole facility flooding with fecal matter and a riot erupting. The worst thing is that some of the inmates had not even started serving their sentences and stood a chance of adding 10 more years to their sentence. Others charged were simply being held, pending conviction. This means that the accused stood a chance of adding 10 more years to their sentence if they were found guilty.
The charges against them include conspiring to riot, rioting in a detention facility, six counts of assault and hazardous waste violation. According to one of the officers on the sight on the riot day, the common room was flooded with fecal matter something that only happened on the cells and not the common room. Could this be the reason why the prisoners used such drastic measures?
Even Criminals Share on YouTube
In 2010,a man was arrested after a police officer in South Famingdale recognized the him through a video that was posted on YouTube! This video received a lot of hits according to the arresting officer. Apparently, he had been caught on camera breaking into a car and making away with some spare change. The question that comes to mind is how the criminal was actually caught on camera. Did he have a friend who was taking a video of him or was it a passerby that caught him?
Man Accuses Police of Bombing His House
In January 2012, Danny Cantu filled a lawsuit against The city of Dallas and a list of its officers.According to him, in January 2010,he saw allegedly saw police officers approaching his house and heard an explosion minutes later. This explosion was made by a bomb that shot through his door. Cantu recalled about 20 officers trooping through his home and ordering him to get on the floor. He did not resist, did as he was told and was handcuffed.
He accused the police officers of assault and claims they beat him to a state of unconsciousness on his kitchen floor. The officers proceeded to search his house and did not find anything incriminating.
Cantu was later arrested but county records revealed that there was no record under his name. The attack left him with a broken orbit bone, a hearing problem in his left ear, a broken nose, a concussion, loss of vision in his left eye and a traumatic brain injury.
Police spokesman in Dallas told reporters that the raid to Cantu's home could not be remembered. Reporters attempted to contact Cantu's three attorneys and city's attorney and only left unanswered voice mails.
